File Transfer Protocol, FTP

File Transfer Protocol, or FTP for short, is a specified network protocol for transferring files over IP networks.
The FTP server is the counterpart to the FTP client and waits for the end device to contact it via TCP connection in order to perform the defined tasks/services. The FTP server can be used to exchange files between two or more computers on site or to upload files to an external FTP server.
An FTP program or FTP client is required to transfer your own content/files to a server via the FTP protocol and to save them there. In addition, directories can be created and renamed or access rights can be authorized to manage or delete files.
