Human Machine Interface, HMI

HMI stands for Human-Machine Interface and refers to a dashboard that allows the user to communicate with a machine, computer program or system.

Technically, HMI communication could be applied to any screen used to interact with a device. However, this dashboard is commonly used in industrial environments. HMIs display real-time data and allow users to control machines via a graphical user interface. However, the interfaces are only exemplary, as they can be adapted to the requirements. An example would be a digital oscilloscope for measuring and displaying electrical voltages or the instrument panel, the dashboard in the cockpit of an ICE, as a modern hub between man and machine.
