An assistance system, also called a plant management system, supports employees in their actions. They are intelligent if they are able to react independently to situations via sensors or embedding in an IT system. Digital assistance systems support people at work by providing selective information.
Increasingly, worker guidance systems are being used in manufacturing to guide assembly workers step-by-step through the assembly process using images and videos. The system uses a digital work instruction to show the team member which component to assemble next and how to assemble the component. The removal of incorrect parts, or tightening with an incorrect torque is immediately signaled by the system. The assembly process can be continued only after the correction. This eliminates errors, ensures the quality of the product and increases productivity.
