Data security or IT security deals with the protection of all data of a company. This data can be both personal and non-personal. It is about the general protection of data.
The primary technical goal of data security is to protect any data against tampering, loss, unauthorized disclosure, or other threats posed by unauthorized users, such as a cyber attack.
Data protection builds on the state of data security. The two terms are closely linked. Data protection ensures that personal data is protected from misuse. Privacy must be protected, i.e. personal data and the anonymity of individuals must be preserved.
